Howdy from Austin. We're a sprint club, not a run club.
TRACKRAT is a free adult sprint club based in Austin, Texas. We meet for sprint and speed workouts every Sunday morning and Thursday evening: repeat 100m, 200m, and 400m, plus acceleration, top-speed, and sprint-mechanics work. This is speed development on a track, not distance running. All speeds welcome. No sign-ups, no membership fees. Just show up.
Workouts are structured but not coached competitively. Beginners line up next to former D1 athletes and members who race meets as a team. Pick the intensity that works for you, sprint hard, get coffee after.

Common questions
Who is TRACKRAT for?
Anyone who wants to sprint. We're a sprint club, not a run club, but you don't have to be fast to belong here. Total beginners line up next to former D1 athletes, and everyone works at their own effort. If you've been meaning to get back on a track, this is it.
Is TRACKRAT a sprint club or a run club?
A sprint club. We train speed on a track: repeat 100m, 200m, and 400m sprints, plus acceleration, top-speed, and sprint-mechanics work. We're not a distance, marathon, 5K, or trail-running club. All speeds are welcome, but the focus is sprinting.
Is TRACKRAT an adult sprint club?
Yes. TRACKRAT is an adult sprint club in Austin, Texas, open to all levels from total first-timers to former collegiate athletes. High-schoolers join us sometimes too. There's no tryout and no experience required.
What kind of training does TRACKRAT do?
Sprint and speed training on a track: repeat 100m, 200m, and 400m intervals, plus acceleration, top-speed, and sprint-mechanics work, opened by a dynamic warm-up. It's speed development, not distance running, and members also race meets in individual 100m/200m/400m events and relays.
Is it free? Do I need to sign up?
Yes it's free, and no sign-up needed. No membership, no fees. Just show up at the listed time.
What if I'm new to sprinting?
You'll fit right in. Every workout is self-paced, so you work at your own effort and nobody gets left behind. Total beginners show up every week. On your first day, take it light and use the warm-up to make sure you're ready to give your effort.
What does a workout look like?
We open with a dynamic warm-up focused on the day's movement patterns. From there it's a full set of repeat sprints, 400s down to 200s and 100s, plus acceleration and top-speed work. See the schedule for more detailed info.
What should I bring?
Just water and running shoes!
Do I need spikes?
No, normal running shoes are fine. Some members use spikes for time trials.
Is there parking?
Yes, there's ample parking at the Sunday and Thursday meet locations.
Can I bring my dog?
Of course, but please make sure your pets are on a leash and you pick up after them.
